How to play the Mr and Mrs quiz

  1. Before the hen, someone close to the couple asks the other half every question in your chosen rounds and writes down their answers. Filming them on your phone gets the biggest laughs.
  2. On the night, read each question out. The bride answers first, then reveal what the other half said, or play the clip.
  3. Score one point every time the bride matches, and add up each round on the score sheet.
  4. Add forfeits if you like: a sip of your drink, wearing the L-plates or doing an impression of the other half for every wrong answer.

Three rounds take about half an hour, which suits most groups. Start gently, put a silly round in the middle and save Saucy for last.

Tips for a brilliant Mr and Mrs quiz

  • Film the answers. Clips of the other half answering beat reading them out every time, and they make a lovely keepsake.
  • Know your audience. If mums and nans are coming, stick to Sweet & Tame and Crazy & Wild until they’ve gone home.
  • Keep it moving. Nobody gets to argue a point for more than ten seconds. The host’s decision is final.
  • Have a prize ready. A full score deserves something, even if it’s first pick of the cocktails.

Want someone else to run it? A butler in the buff can host your Mr and Mrs quiz on the night, keep the score and run plenty more games. See how booking works.

Mr and Mrs quiz FAQs

How many questions should a Mr and Mrs quiz have?

Between 20 and 50 works best. That’s two or three rounds and about half an hour of play, with plenty of laughs before anyone gets restless.

Does the other half need to be there?

No, and that’s the fun of it. Their answers are collected before the hen, so the bride has no idea what’s coming. Filming them is the best way to do it.

Does it work for same-sex couples?

Yes. Every question is written about “they”, so it works for any couple, whatever you call your version of the game.

Can we play it over a video call?

Easily. Share your screen with the questions, keep the other half’s answers hidden, and play their clips when it’s time to reveal.
