Booking a butler in the buff for the first time? Here’s exactly what happens, from the doorstep to the last group photo, so the organiser can relax and enjoy it too.
It’s not the most conventional booking, and it’s normal to wonder how the first ten minutes will go. With the right host, it quickly becomes the part of the hen everyone talks about. This is what to expect when you book with us.
Before the day
Tell us about your group when you book: roughly how many of you there are, the mix of ages, and whether anyone like a mum or a gran will be there. If anything is off limits, or you’re planning a surprise, let us know too. Your host can tailor the whole session around it.
You’ll get a confirmation email with your booking details. Your butler then sends you a check-in message the day before, so you’ll have his contact details and can ask any last questions.
When he arrives
He’ll arrive on time, or 30 minutes early to set up if you’ve booked a cocktail class or a package. He’ll ask who the hen is, find out how the group wants the evening to go, and take it from there.
He wears the classic butler apron look. If you’d prefer something less revealing, ask for black trousers and smart shoes when you book.
What he’ll do
- Serve the drinks. He pours the fizz and serves any food you’ve got in, so nobody is stuck in the kitchen.
- Run the games. Every butler has favourites, but Never Have I Ever, Share Your Secret, Find the Plaster and Guess the Shot are regulars.
- Take the photos. Suggest a funny or cheeky pose, or let him take the lead.
- Include everyone. Our reviews often mention how well our butlers read the room. Nobody is left out, and nobody is put on the spot.
Want more? He can also run a cocktail lesson, or you can book one of our packages, which add life drawing, a cocktail masterclass or a performance.
Cheeky, never awkward
Our butlers are friendly, confident and respectful, and they take their lead from the group. Whether it’s a group of friends in their twenties or a hen that spans three generations, the session is pitched to suit the people in the room. Shy guests can just enjoy the show.
How long it lasts and what it costs
Butler service runs for two hours and starts from £170 for the whole group, not per person. Our price guide shows what’s included and what groups usually pay, and our hen party packages combine your butler with a cocktail masterclass, life drawing or both.
First-timer FAQs
Can we take photos?
Yes. Your butler is happy to pose, and group photos are part of the fun.
What if some of the group are shy?
Nobody has to join in. Your butler reads the room and keeps things comfortable for everyone.
Can he come to a holiday let or Airbnb?
Yes, anywhere you’re celebrating, from holiday lets and apartments to function rooms. Check your booking’s house rules first.
Do you cover my area?
We cover the whole of the UK. See our pages for Leeds, York, Liverpool and more, or just ask.
Is there a minimum group size?
No. A butler in the buff works just as well for a handful of friends as for a full hen weekend.
